It was established in 1987, in conjunction with the schools of the St Catalina Gakuen in Japan, to provide an intensive one-year course in English for their students and also for independent students. To date, more than 1000 female students have graduated from SCLI.
The school year runs from April until March, to coincide with the Japanese academic year.
Up to 50 students enrol each year, the majority being 16 and 17 year olds, who return to their Japanese high schools on the completion of the course. High school graduates can also be accepted for enrolment.
Southern Cross prides itself in being able to offer the highest quality education in all areas of the English language, while at the same time providing a safe and supportive environment for young women to experience study abroad.
Our graduates return to Japan to achieve not only academic success but also recognition in the field of leadership within their school community.
